Wasatiyah-Based Islamic Education Learning In High School

Abstract

Conceptually, the Islamic Education system can realize superior competencies, both in the form of attitudes, knowledge and skills. But the image of Islamic Education is now considered low quality. Even the rise of moral decadence, low spiritual quality, and the emergence of the phenomenon of extremism and intolerance became an apologist to discredit the role of Islamic Religious Education. So that the learning system needs to be reconstructed, especially the curriculum as a learning foundation, while learning is tasked with directing so that educational goals can be achieved optimally. Furthermore, teacher competence and the quality of teaching materials are the main factors for realizing learning outcomes. Meanwhile, optimization of learning outcomes can be achieved through empowering the diversity of character and uniqueness of student conditions, the availability of facilities and infrastructure. Moreover, the competence and proficiency of teachers in developing, implementing, and adapting the ideal curriculum in the classroom. Even the quality of interaction between teachers and students, and the dedication of teachers determine the optimal realization of PAI learning outcomes. The purpose of this study is to study and explore pai learning programs based on wasatiah values at SMA Nuraida Islamic Boarding School (NIBS). This research uses a qualitative method that seeks to observe, understand and explore holistically about PAI learning based on wasatiah values. The research method is carried out in a descriptive way in the form of language in a special context that is ethnographic in nature that utilizes an observation approach, interviews, document reviews and directed discussion forums. The results of this study conclude that PAI learning based on wasatiah values guarantees the formation of permanent spiritual qualities that are in line with the goals of national education based on the Pancasila philosophy, in the form of straight and moderate beliefs in students. So that graduates of faith, piety and noble character are formed. Learning PAI based on wasatiyah values can produce a number of competencies as follows; KD-1 The formation of students as individuals, can accept differences, and do not impose each other's wills, so that there is an atmosphere of mutual feeling and understanding of attachment, self-regulation, sensitivity and awareness. KD-2 The formation of students as social citizens of society who develop a tolerant, flexible attitude, and healthy and close relationships, so that they feel comfortable in being in a group, are able to assess situations, and see strengths, needs, and attractions to others. KD-3 The formation of pupils as citizens who act tolerantly, value differences and beliefs, and treat all citizens fairly, wisely and non-discriminatoryly. KD-4 The formation of students as an international community capable of associating and interacting at the global level with an attitude of respect for other nations by behaving peacefully, friendly and politely as the basic ethics taught by Islam.
