Abstract

In India, the pharmaceutical industry is a success story, providing employment for millions and ensuring that essential drugs at affordable prices are available to the vast population of this sub-continent. The pharmaceutical industry has the potential to attract talent even during the global financial meltdown, as the industry is virtually recession proof. Job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviors are a few of the variables that need prime attention to retain and attract talented employees. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted in pharmaceutical companies to explore the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviors. Since many pharmaceutical industries are accessible in India, viz., the population is infinite, the study followed purposive sampling to arrive at the targeted sample size of 405. Appropriate measurement model analysis and structural model analysis were done with SEM AMOS. The research has identified appropriate theoretical and managerial implications for the outcome of the research. Therefore, the present study on job satisfaction and organizational citizenship behavior in the pharmaceutical sector in India is expected to contribute to the field of HRM by providing insight for better talent management practices.
