A Religious Constructivism Approach To Disaster Mitigation Learning: Is It Effective?

Abstract

This research was motivated by the desire to break away from secular thinking in learning, namely disaster mitigation learning guided by applying a religious constructivism approach to attain something right and good according to reason. This study aimed to (1) evaluate the effectiveness of the religious constructivism approach in improving disaster mitigation learning outcomes and (2) analyze the effectiveness of the religious constructivism approach in developing environmental care characters. This study’s design used true experiments, and the research samples were XI IPS class students at SMA Negeri 1 Purwokerto, Banyumas District. Data collection techniques employed observation sheets, tests, and questionnaires, while the data analysis technique was a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis. The results revealed that (1) the application of the religious constructivism approach effectively increased disaster mitigation learning outcomes, and (2) the application of the religious constructivism approach was also effective in developing the environmental care character.
