The Effectiveness of Using the Home-Based Environmental Print Method in Improving the Early Reading Ability of Preschool Age Children during the Pandemic

Abstract
This study aims to determine the improvement of children's early reading skills through the home-based environmental print method. This type of research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental method with pretest and posttest designs. The population of this study was pre-school children aged 4-5 years, the sample of this study took 10 children, the sampling technique was purposive sampling. Data analysis used paired sample t test. From the results of data collection and processing, it can be concluded, 1) the results (pre-test) of children's early reading abilities before using the home-based environment printing method more than half of children's early reading abilities have not developed, and none of the children's abilities have developed as expected 2) After the action (post-test) The results showed that children's early reading developed as expected, the percentage was more than half of children, while only a small percentage in the category of starting to develop and those who had not yet developed were no longer there. 3) There is a significant difference between the results of the pretest and posttest of children's early reading ability after being stimulated using the home based environment print method, as evidenced by the paired sample t test sig 0.000 < 0.05.
