Abstract

The article examines the theoretical foundations of the religious conversion study: the content of the concept, models of the formation and development of conversion. The current religious situation in our country, namely, the growth of new religious movements, an increase in the number of adherents of traditional religions, including Islam, makes it necessary to comprehend the rapid transformation processes of religiosity, and as a result, the transformation of social identity. In this regard, the phenomenon of religious conversion acquires special relevance as a process of religious change, entailing significant changes in the self-determination of the individual and the revision of his or her identity.
