REFUGEES IN INDIA: EXAMINING THE CHALLENGES AND RESPONSES
Main Article Content
Abstract
One of the most complicated concerns that occupy international political decision-makers and intellectuals is how to tackle the refugee issue. Since attaining independence in 1947 along with partition, India has routinely hosted large numbers of refugees. By examining India's current legal framework, refugee governance, and potential integration critically, my study makes an effort to centre on the refugees in India. The article examines three refugee communities in particular—Bengalis, Tibetans, and Afghans—to identify the gaps and ambiguities in the current system, and suggest measures to overcome those in line with international organisations like the UNHCR.
